What We Are For

Build it so it is
still right in thirty years.

We build homes meant to be lived in for decades, for people who would rather hear an inconvenient number early than a comfortable one that moves later. That is the whole idea. Everything below is how we try to hold ourselves to it.

One party accountable for the whole job

Most of what goes wrong on a residential project does not happen inside a trade. It happens in the gap between two of them — where the framer’s work meets the plumber’s, where nobody agreed who was responsible for the transition.

NeXGen is the licensed general contractor. We hold the contract and the schedule and coordinate the licensed trade partners who perform the work. When something falls between two scopes, it is still ours. You should never have to arbitrate between your own subcontractors.

Say the expensive thing first

Every project has a moment where the honest answer is unwelcome: the ground is harder than hoped, the wall is carrying load, the schedule cannot absorb another change. The temptation is to leave it until the client is committed enough that the news is easier to deliver.

We would rather lose the job at the consultation than deliver that conversation in month seven. A budget range given early and held is worth more than a low number that has to be walked back.

Quality lives where materials meet

Anyone can make the middle of a wall look good. The craft shows at the junctions — new plaster against old, casing against original trim, an opening cut into something that has stood for thirty years.

That is why the plaster and carpentry licences sit alongside the general building licence rather than being handed off unexamined. The transitions are the part you will look at every day, and the part that is unforgiving if it is rushed.

Verifiable, not just claimed

Any contractor can describe themselves as licensed. Ours are listed with their numbers on every page of this site, and the Nevada State Contractors Board lookup is linked directly so you can check them yourself without taking our word for it.

That is the standard we would want as a client, so it is the one we publish to.

Built here, for here

This valley has its own rules. Caliche a few feet down. Three separate permitting authorities inside twenty miles. A summer that closes the window on concrete, plaster and paint for part of the day. Design review committees with real authority.

None of that is exotic if you have worked through it repeatedly. All of it is expensive to learn on someone else’s house.
